Breastfeeding for first time Moms

Hurray!!! Hurray!!!

It's World Breastfeeding Week and our blog is proud to support and encourage women who are engaging in both exclusive and non-exclusive breastfeeding.

The beauty of breastfeeding is that it is has a lot of benefits which include but are not limited to:

* 1* Breastfeeding helps in building bond between mother and child.

 * 2* Breastfeeding reduces infection tendencies in babies.

*3* Breastfeeding keeps the babies healthy

*4*  Breastfeeding is economical to maintain and it's also helps nursing mum to shrink their tummy (in some cases ) faster.

The challenge with breastfeeeding in our society is that, it is a sacrifice hence nursing moms should be encourage to sleep well, eat well and drink a lot of warm water, tea or pap to help her lactate.

Most first time moms are emotionally drained due to the series of advice. Many advise only show how incompetent this moms are.  WHO advises 6months for breastfeeding for every baby. Your choice to do it for a year is only an added advantage.

I will personally encourage every first time mom who wants to engage in exclusive Breastfeeding to have a help, it is never easy to prepare the meals , care for the baby as well as do the house chores. So the first 3months should be with an experienced Nanny, help, understanding mum or Aunty.

Food and Rest are essential for Breastfeeding Moms. You need to try to have fish, vegetables, boiled egg and drink Pap in your daily meal.  Intake of Pap is better for lactation than custard.

Personally, I realised that I lactate heavily once I step out of the bathroom and that helps me in expressing the breastmilk for my baby. So a warm bath is often good.

Still more to come on Breastfeeding....

Thank you for your time on Olabusola's Review.
