ALEX AND BELLA 5 C harles leaves the bar and walks back to locate Bella who seem busy with another friend. He motions to her as she excused herself and walks her way out of the hall with Charles t o another bar in the same hotel. They sat to drink and unwind and as they were talking, he discovers Bella has feelings for Alex and he became weak. Now Bella is not married and there should be no issue if she has feelings for Alex ordinarily but with the drama on ground the feelings needed to be modified and put into proper perspective. Besides Bella can date a man like Alex because their ways of life could never produce a synergy.  Bella:   Where is Alex. Charles: At the other Bar. Bella: Then let’s go over there to bug him. That friend of yours cherish his own company more than hanging out. I watched him as he danced into the hall with the other grooms’ men; the guy is simply a fine gentleman. Charles: Don’t mind him jare… You know he is introverted and would r

ALEX AND BELLA 4

ALEX AND BELLA 4 Alex could not understand who was lying or playing pranks. Bella sounded so convincing, when she narrated how Zoe had board the next flight. She had so much empathy in her expression and gestures but with Charles’ gist comes another seemingly convincing tale by the moon light. Charles: Oh Bella already told you that? In that case there is no need for me taking you to where I thought she might be. Alex: Hnmmmm! I really do not know who to believe anyway. Charles : And what is the meaning of that. You ran into a lady in one night and you forget your surname plus what brings you to this town and all I hear is, work stress made you sleep late. O boy tell me if you were not already wanking with the name Zoe. Alex: Ahian! You no well at all. God punish you. Wan What? Mtsheee Abeg… Now they both laughed over their bottles of beer as they slapped each other on the back. Charles : Alex on a serious note, you looked confused the moment Zoe came i

ALEX AND BELLA3

ALEX AND BELLA3 O nce more it became an herculean task to wake up Alex as it took several calls from Charles to get Alex off a seemingly sound sleep at about 8:20 the following morning.   Q uite unlike Alex he was never known for lateness, as a matter of fact; he was such a principled man that would literally set a timer to manage his time when he has to hold an informal conversation. His attention to integrity and etiquette is impeccable and this compliments his adherence to punctuality to all events.  Unfortunately for him, all the groom’s men were already down stairs in the compound of the Groom’s hotel posing for the first shot and Alex was nowhere to be found. The Church wedding was 10:00am and the photography session was slated for eight in the morning 8:00am, while arrival at the church was 9:45am. Alex had to take hurriedly dress  up, racing down the stairs unto the parking lot where he saw the rest from afar. B eing a choleric, Charles did not hesi

ALEX AND BELLA 2

ALEX AND BELLA 2 A lex still had his white shirt on, with his neat pair of brown chinos, as he laid on his bed thinking of why things sometimes happen the way they do or what kind of game, fate was playing with . He had a lot on his feeble mind; a lot more than he could excuse to continue his proposal or discuss with Charles, since he wasn’t sure of the next step to take in resolving this puzzle. He soon remembered the first time he met Zoe. She was this naive girl in his Batch (National Youth Service Corp - Orientation Camp set) while he was serving in Cross River State. In those days, she was so innocent and intelligent in her look. He had enjoyed staring at her from a distance each time Corp members were on the parade ground during their three weeks orientation camp at Obubura, a local government in Cross River State. On few occasions during his visit to the Mammy Market, Alex had seen Zoe in company of her friends, her lovely shape and height could not be hidden especia

ALEX AND BELLA 1

ALEX AND BELLA A lex Bright was never a fan of parties or clubs but for his weekend in the eastern part of kwara State of Nigeria, where he had to attend a wedding of his closest friend’s cousin. This was just an invitation, he couldn’t turn down. Alex, Charles Eno and his cousin,Adams Koko had been roommates back in their University days. Everyone knew Alex as the nerd of them all, despite his handsome looks; he had neither girlfriends nor side chicks, unlike his group of friends who had the best of the girls flocking around them at clubs and other events. Alex was famous for his dexterity in cooking and engaging in research, while Charles was good with the girls and ladies. Charles was often teased for his aptness in identifying the newest babe on campus with their different perfumes; he could get the link to richest babe and woo her in splits of seconds. It was quite amazing how a guy could distinguish two ladies with the scent of their bodies. It wont be out of place to ca

One Great Weekend

One Great Weekend S o it was, the heat of the journey and the harsh weather yet no sight or sound of a downpour of rain and we had no choice but we were bound to proceed on the journey. It once uses to be a smooth journey about 13 years ago, we all would travel this path with all enthusiasm and anxiousness just to get to back to school.  I bet you, we can never have those times back: those good old days when " Wella" (Prof. Akin Wale)our then HOD would walk and work the courtyard and down-studio (locations in the department) with the requirement of a good director or was it the time when Prof. Zikky Kofoworola an over 70 years old lecturer, who would crack a joke in class and still, be laughing at this unfunny jokes 10 minutes after the joke, it gets so bad that his hilarious way of laughing would drag out the humour from the entire classroom and we all would join in the laughter for about another 6 minutes, with different tones of voices, after which we wou

International Day For The Girl Child

Happy International Day to every girl in the world! “You're a girl! You're strong, you're immaculate, you're smart, and you can do ANYTHING. It's in you!”  ―  Ifeoluwa Egbetade Tim McGraw reflected his love for the success of the girl-child in his song, “My Little Girl.”   A few of the lines in the lyrics are, “Chase your dreams but always know the road that will lead you home again. Go on, take on this world. But to me you know you will always be, my little girl” The girl child in Africa grows up with untapped resources and then she becomes dependent on friends and foes to define her. Many times we also get angry at the African society for how the society attends to the girl-child, but this is not always the case. We need to change the narrative by preparing the mind of the girl-child to embrace the beauty of her personality and the virtue, strength and potentials that comes with her nature. Today, I Olabusola aligns with the United
