FIREPEMI 3
FIREPEMI
Geoffrey soon became conscious.
His sudden scream could have woken up the
dead in the Mortuary.
He had screamed due to an excruciating
pain.
He felt a strange pain in his neck as he
attempted to turn his neck,
To look around at his new environment,
strange as It were.
It took the help of pretty Nurse
Adesua to calm him down.
Nurse Adesua was on duty, the night Geoffrey
was wheeled in.
She is one Nurse, who often act based on being present in the moment.
With so much compassion, she had
attended to him that night
she returned more to his bed after checking a few other patients.
Nurse Adesua had been away from work,
for four days to attend her Medical Training
on dealing with patients through the use
of therapeutic media.
On her return to work,
She was informed that an unconscious young
male patient in Ward B,
died the previous night. Her heart skipped as the thought of Geoffrey was foremost on her mind.
Adesua was almost scared, but acted calmly,
until she got
to Geoffrey’s bed and discovered,
He was still unconsciously laid on his bed.
Geoffrey had not spoken a word in about three
weeks.
Yet he had been having series of
visitors.
From the Police men, to the Inspectors, then to a few lecturers and students,
Of his Department. While some where
visiting to check on his welfare,
The Military men were visiting to see how
soon they could get him
To make a statement. His dear friend,
Ben was never far from his bed, except when he went to write his examination. On his return, he had appreciated Nurse Adesua for her kind attention. Ben was both glad and scared, his friend became conscious in his presence. As soon Nurse Adesua
was through with the medication,
She administered on Geoffrey, he became calm.
He later started speaking gradually.
He could see Ben and slowly called out
the three lettered-name "Beeeeeeee-heeeennnnnnnn" like an old dying man.
Ben’s eyes were laced with tears. He had
almost lost hope. He could see his intelligent friend struggling to come alive. But no one could comprehend what happened to
Geoffrey.
Only the blood stains and the unknown spirits that were present could tell it all.
Soon Geoffrey was moved to a private
ward.
By now, Ben had ample time to remind
Geoffrey of how much he knew about the incident.
Geoffrey only listened but had no strength
to say much. By the next day,
He could talk a little bit more. The first
sentence that proceeded out of his mouth was:
‘’Where is Firepemi?’’
At this question, Ben went silent, he
knew this day would come.
Sweat pulse had gathered on his head,
with goose pimples on his skin, his lips were moving yet lacking words. His
gestures and expression were absurd.
He had thought of how to tell Geoffrey
that, Firepemi was no more.
No one knew how she died but the news
around was that she was dead.
Ben was still forming his letters into
words that will make sensible yet comforting sentence, when the door opened.
It was the Inspector. They must have
been informed of Geoffrey’s development. The officer, walked in with his note
pad and pen.
He pulled a seat close to Geoffrey’s
bed.
…
Thank you for your Time.
