FIREPEMI 4
FIREPEMI 4
Detective Bill
Mensa came in next and sat beside Inspector James Wilson.
Ben was
looking at the two averagely old men and
how they
intended to probe a patient who had just become conscious
in less than
twenty-four hours (24 hours).
They both
looked at their notepads and iPad,
where they
had scribbled some questions.
Soon
Detective Mensa, an elderly Ghanaian Officer gently asked
Geoffrey how
he was doing. Geoffrey only nodded in the
affirmative
then turned his eyes to the drip stand and then up unto the ceiling.
His gaze was
welcomed by some pictures which Detective Mensa had brought out,
to build up
his enquires.
The pictures
showed the apartment of Firepemi,
another
showed the blood stains on the floor and
a few other
pictures showed the scattered room and
yet another
showed the class room.
Upon seeing
the pictures, Geoffrey looked away and
by the next
time he looked at them he was in tears.
He would not
say a word.
The
Detective probed further, ‘’do you know this room and
do you
remember what happened in that room?’’
After about 45 minutes of been silent.
Inspective James
Wilson, raised his palm and waved it right in front of Geoffrey,
to get his
attention. Then he asked, ‘’Geoffrey, can you remember Firepemi?’’
Geoffrey
smiled and responded slowly, ‘’did you see her in class?
She had the
best of grades. She loved the library and
never went to
club or pretended to be religious.
She is my
woman.
She is
always on my mind and we were almost married until you came in’’.
At this
point Ben was too shocked and could not comprehend
a few things
Geoffrey was saying and what was happening.
He had to
call the Nurse through the intercom
to tell them
Geoffrey needed urgent attention.
The
Inspectors were notating Geoffrey’s statement and Ben became furious at them.
‘’Please
what are you people writing down for God's sake.
Can’t you
see Geoffrey is hallucinating.’’
As Ben was
speaking to the Detector, he noticed Geoffrey was still talking.
Now he was
talking about the wedding dress and their home in Ontario, Canada.
The Nurse
came in and motioned them to be quiet,
Ben told the
nurse that the inspectors were making Geoffrey sick.
Ben had his
hands to his head, while telling the Nurse to call for a Doctor’s help.
The Nurse
told him to be calm and that everything would be alright.
The Nurse
then requested the two visitors to allow the patients to rest.
