International Day For The Girl Child

Happy International Day to every girl in the world!
“You're a girl! You're strong, you're immaculate, you're smart, and you can do ANYTHING. It's in you!”

Tim McGraw reflected his love for the success of the girl-child in his song, “My Little Girl.”  A few of the lines in the lyrics are, “Chase your dreams but always know the road that will lead you home again. Go on, take on this world. But to me you know you will always be, my little girl”

The girl child in Africa grows up with untapped resources and then she becomes dependent on friends and foes to define her. Many times we also get angry at the African society for how the society attends to the girl-child, but this is not always the case. We need to change the narrative by preparing the mind of the girl-child to embrace the beauty of her personality and the virtue, strength and potentials that comes with her nature.

Today, I Olabusola aligns with the United Nations theme of “With Her: A Skilled Girl Force”. This is the time to focus on unlocking the potentials of the girl-child in Africa. Every girl has a purpose on earth, just like every human.

The mind of the girl child needs to be nurtured to appreciate the greatness that each gift and skills, she possess can give back to humanity. The need to add values to generations through the development and use of the God- given resources is a substantial reason to train the girl-child to work towards being the force to reckon with. Amit Ray an Indian Author says, “There are miracles and glory in every child. Our glory lies in empowering them to flourish their glory”.

Let us encourage skillful young women around us.

Thank you for your time on Olabusola's Review.
