ALEX AND BELLA 1
ALEX AND BELLA
Alex Bright was never a fan of parties or clubs but for his weekend
in the eastern part of kwara State of Nigeria, where he had to attend a wedding
of his closest friend’s cousin. This was just an invitation, he couldn’t turn down.
Alex, Charles Eno and his cousin,Adams Koko had been roommates back in their
University days. Everyone knew Alex as the nerd of them all, despite his
handsome looks; he had neither girlfriends nor side chicks, unlike his group of
friends who had the best of the girls flocking around them at clubs and other
events. Alex was famous for his dexterity in cooking and engaging in research,
while Charles was good with the girls and ladies. Charles was often teased for his aptness in
identifying the newest babe on campus with their different perfumes; he could get the link to richest
babe and woo her in splits of seconds. It was quite amazing how a guy could
distinguish two ladies with the scent of their bodies. It wont be out of place to call him a
ladies’man. Adams, on the other hand was fond of tasting the fineness of wine and networking DJ’s; he was friends with many DJ’s hence, it was easy to gain access to
the most exquisite party in town. One thing these three had in common was, taking
turns to cook beans and the weight lifting time out at weekends. University days was
everything called fun and this weekend had some nostalgic promises on its
sleeve.
Charles had arrived Nigeria Four days to the wedding from
his beautiful home in Sydney, Australia where he is based with his wife and
children. Charles hadn’t been to his home town in ten years and this one
week vacation meant so much to him hence, the reason he invited some old friends
over for his cousin’s wedding. Alex Bright was
one buddy that sticks closer than a relative, which made Alex, the first to
receive the invitation. Now Alex has been based in Igoli Ogoja, Cross River,
Nigeria for so many years, after his NYSC (National Youth Service Corp). He chose Igoli over Ya e Yala, for her development and the friends he had made over time. Being a Phlegmatic,
Alex never found it easy making new friends hence he had always retain his usual.
So it was meant to be a beautiful
reunion for Alex, Adams and Charles. Charles had also invited a few other friends. Alex looked forward to seeing Adams and having a great weekend with his old Diaspora friend despite the need to retire each night to his office project. “And you make sure you do not
come over with your laptop or office work, Is that clear?” This was Charles’ sarcastic warning on the day he sent Alex the E-invitation, to which Alex had responded,
“Yes boss, all office tasks would be suspended for a blissful weekend even if your
boy’s promotion is as stake.”
Upon arrival, he checked into his hotel suite and had a cold
shower after which he unpacked his briefcase and had a cup of coffee. Coffee
was one great friend of his as they dined and wined several times daily. Moments later, as he lay on his soft bed, he reflected on his flight from Calabar to
Ilorin and the business client he sat with on the plane. The conversation seem to be leaning towards a business relationship with his Alex's company. He was still on this
thought when Charles’call came through. With this call, Alex had to excuse
himself from the world of business possibilities to the reason for his visit to Kwara State. Charles had called to welcome Alex and also to intimate him on the activities lined up for the evening.
As the evening approached, friends gathered at the engagement
party which was at a classy and exquisite hotel, situated at a very serene part
of Kwara Town. The soft music welcomed the guest as the compere entertained
them in an enchanting way. It was quite an interesting time until one of
Charles’ guests distracted the party with her presence. Charles could not hold back his excitement
upon seeing Bella Andel his old friend, who came in with Zoe Coker a slim dark
and elegant lady. Bella was still as beautiful in her light skin complexion and her pointed nose as it were. Zoe, a head
Customer Service Manager had been a great friend of Bella and Wonuola Adele for
a few years. Both Wonuola and Bella were good friends to Charles; they had
dragged their friend Zoe, to this weekend of fun. Bella was the Sanguine of the
three so in no time, she found a spot to sit for her friends, after exchanging
pleasantries with Charles and Alex.
The engagement party was quite brief thereby, ushering
everyone unto a ‘meet and greet’ session with the best wine to savor on.
Wonuola, a flight attendant ran into an old sailor whom she met on board few
years back and both continued their unfinished conversation. Bella was the
light of the evening, she walked up to interrupt Alex’s chat with Prince
Charles, as he was fondly called and introduces Zoe to both of them. They also had
a great evening but for Alex’s apt interruption to leave. Alex seems to have so
much on his mind which made him go blank admits their conversation. Soon he
excused himself to return to his room.
Zoe and Bella kept Charles’ company with a few other friends, as they
discussed politics, Nigerian economy then the effect of media on the younger
generations. Here they share several stories of lovers who met though DM's (Direct Message): the story of Banky Wellington and Adesuwa Etomi (The two famous celebrities of the Nigerian Musician and Nollywood Actress) was not left out. Bella seem to have a good grasp on social media dating and how best to hook down a guy or babe. One of the young men who was dressed in a nicely tailored Black native oufit Olamide, confessed to have engaged in a DM relationship but was shocked when the lady in question was looking out for an happily ever after pretty too soon. Olamide seem more like one of those "kill the babe" kind of guys, with his very neat and well trimmed look. According to him, he was forced to help her reset her brains to think right. This part of the conversation, really made the night more exciting. At few minutes after midnight they all retired to their suites respectively.
Alex and Bella continues... in a moment
